Festival Launch Party

Join us on the first Sunday of April for the launch of this year’s Brisbane Street Art Festival. The BSAF team, all the artists taking place in the festival, and our community and industry support, invite you to indulge in a night of live art, live music, performance and the unveiling of BSAF 2018’s first mural, painted by legendary street artists Drapl and Treazy – you may know them from previous BSAF years, painting the skating arena in Red Hill. This will be mind blowing. With support from Digi Youth Arts, an acknowledgment of the lands and country will open the event, as well as a representative from the Brisbane City Council.
Lord Mayor Graham Quirk said Brisbane City Council was proud to support the Brisbane Street Art Festival, which added to Brisbane’s reputation as a great place to live, work and relax. “Public art contributes to a vibrant Brisbane
and brings our city’s infrastructure alive, while providing new opportunities for our city’s talented
emerging artists,” Cr Quirk said. Launch Event Acknowledgment of Country by Digi Youth Arts: before the walls: We dream in futures. We care about tomorrows. We paint for generations. Since the very first sunrise we have kept history, told stories and shaped our nation’s through cultural expression and art. Long before the tall ships came, every surface was (and still is) a story. before the walls is a contextualised Acknowledgement of Country performed by the Digi Youth Arts ensemble that celebrates the work of First Nations street artists continuing culture
through this medium.
The festival director, Lincoln Savage, will also welcome you to the opening of our biggest BSAF yet. Not only will there be live painting, but accompanying local musical talents from The Gametes, Desmond Cheese, YELLOWCATREDCAT and Feelsclub.
This invitation is extended to people of all genders, sexual orientations, ethnicities, cultural backgrounds, abilities and artistic interests.
