Basix is from Northern NSW and has been painting for 20 years. Over his painting journey, he has been driven by his determination to move forward artistically. He has morphed 2 and 3D lettering, creating fresh, clean and intricate pieces. Basix has painted all over Australia and spent some time travelling overseas. He concentrates on public murals, canvasses and commissioned works. His work has featured in television programs, worldwide magazines, logos for numerous companies and art collectors.
Shida is an Australian multidisciplinary artist best known for his large scale murals. Shida’s work explores the relationship between Ritual, Sexuality and Love. Psychedelic entities are entwined in ceremonial acts, transcending the bounds of known reality. In a world where society’s issues are becoming increasingly gendered and people are seemingly more divided than ever due to the rise of identity politics, Shida seeks to turn this tide like an ancient shaman with each works being in essence an invocation, an energetic manifestation, a prayer to joy.
EJ considers herself self-taught with a predisposition for Fine Arts. The experience with her arts practice ranges from lead-lighting, Photography, Illustration to self publication, digital drawing, concept design and now mural/ public art work. A Jack of all trades in terms of telling story, visually; she uses these skills within public art as she feels most at home painting large scale images from years of drawing and refining her style through the medium of paint.
Mike Shankster is a multi-disciplined artist based in Currumbin, Queensland. His driving passion to create stemmed from an early love of comic books and cartoons. Placing a huge emphasis on quality over quantity, Mike describes his style as “A mix of detailed realistic lines blended into a traditional contemporary feel”. Believing in traditional craftsmanship, Mike is continuing to push the boundaries of his work and now with over 17 years’ experience, he has been fortunate enough to work and collaborate with clients such as: Red Bull, Frenzal Rhomb, The Adolescents, Guttermouth, OYUKI Apparel, Tourism NSW, Kosciuszko National Parks and various councils throughout Australia. Burgkaba is the creative project developed by Brisbane based artist and musician Adam Stockdale. With heavy influence drawn from 90’s video games and cartoons, as well as graffiti, street art and anime, the visual style of Burgkaba displays precise bold line work and carefully selected palettes of limited colours. Profound and profane, virtuous and vulgar, Burgkaba’s work explores sexuality, mental health, the positives and negatives of drug culture, the natural beauty of Earth and it’s inhabitants, and the simple joys of shape and colour. A variety of mediums all come together to help Burgkaba deliver artworks with impact and vibrance.
Benny Pierce is a Brisbane based emerging artist, with a core practice revolving around illustration. Taking inspiration from scenes around the city, Pierce is constantly scribbling on anything he can find, making his murals, graphic novels and virtual reality pieces probably the most proudly Brisbane art we’ve seen for a long time.
Xandolino has a versatile style that can be applied to different surfaces and material. From small watercolours to big murals he plays around with different themes from abstract to figurative.
Diz Brown, aka Disney, aka JB, is a brisbane artist who rose to artistic esteem during his days as a Graffiti writer in the late eighties, early nineties. He uses his art to express his views, feelings & absurdities. Diz is comfortable with multiple mediums from digital to lead but mainly gravitates to spray paint and oils.
Based in Brisbane, Emmanuel Moore is a visual artist who creates paintings and drawings commonly using aerosol, acrylic and interior/ exterior paint. Inspired by urban environments, Moore creates alienated landscapes of recognisable sceneries and objects that hold symbolic meanings as a way of delivering a theory or message to its audience. These imaginative images allows the viewers to create their own perspective and meaning of the artwork. Moore’s artworks are constructed from memory or photographs, allowing each object and/or scenery to be constructed similarly to its original form.
Sirmano is the alias of Anna, a Brisbane artist and illustrator who has been creating playful illustrations working with paint, wood and mixed media since her hands could pick up a pencil. She creates characters which are strong, independent beings who occupy a space which is rich in colour and mystery. Since graduating design from Queensland College of Art in 2005, she has studied illustration at the Alberta College of Art and Design, Canada, taken part in an artist residency in Barcelona, exhibited her work nationally and internationally and contributed to street art festivals across Queensland. Sirmano’s creative practice has drawn influence from her love of travel, different cultures and her heritage. She has a keen eye for colour which is a big part of her work, it evokes a feeling and is what keeps her creating. When she isn’t painting Anna works as a senior graphic design for a design studio Bright Yellow.
