23rd Key

Jess began creating work in 2005, first exhibiting her work in 2008, and has spent most of her time toiling over a table ever since. Under the pseudonym 23rd Key, she creates photo-realistic stencils and hand-painted works, taking no shortcuts and cutting all her stencils by hand. With a background in Printmaking, Graphic Design, Audio Engineering and Architecture, she brings this knowledge into her work and in recent years has adapted to installing and hand painting large-scale mural works without the use of stencils.

GERM

Germ is an emerging visual artist based in Meanjin (Brisbane). With a keen interest in the weird and wonderful elements of the world around her. She has built herself a safe space for the artists’ own insecurities. Germ uses her art as her playground, creating a world within her head inhabited by characters who are unapologetic and unjudged. This chaotic and unfiltered world presents itself through the artist’s paintings, murals, illustrations, and digital work.

Naycha

Brisbane based artist Naycha has been honing his skills in visual art since 2006. Coming from a graffiti/street art background, Naycha’s style has a street art aesthetic fused with elements of nature and geometry. Naycha uses a mix of spray paint and acrylic paint to create vibrant and unique art, featuring a montage of earthly elements unified by geometry. He is inspired by nature and the adventure and mystery of life on earth, and is passionate about capturing that within his work. Naycha’s main focus at present is creating large scale murals and further developing his digital art creations.q

Gourami

Despite only being 17, Ryan Barwick began his art career capturing the heart and soul of Australia’s biggest icons through his compelling and ultra realistic drawings, catching the eyes of the AFL and GC SUNS on a regular basis. Recently, however, Ryan has found his home in the mural world, taking on the challenge of creating vibrant and moving pieces with nothing but a can in hand.

Aleja Hine

Aleja is a visual/street artist, creative director and curator based in Meanjin. In her studio she is primarily an oil painter, however uses mixed media such as acrylic and aerosol on canvas. Her style involves a form of realistic composite art with enhanced and abstracted colours, drawing from the ideas and style of surrealism. She plays between the boundaries of traditional and digital art. Using traditional realism juxtaposed against bold block imagery in thought provoking ways to depict modern ideals of beauty aesthetics, sexual freedom and fluidity. Her work largely focuses on depicting women in unique ways to tell stories about the world.

Gus Eagleton

Australian based artist Gus Eagleton possesses a diverse skill set, spanning many creative areas and mediums. Exploring figuration through studio work and contemporary mural painting, Gus blends methods to produce a vast array of work – from small compositions to expansive murals. Gus is particularly interested in the diversity and intrigue of people. By developing relatable concepts, Gus continually challenges audiences’ perceptions of themselves. Gus has exhibited nationwide and abroad, receiving accolades in the form of art awards and steadily producing commissioned works for private clients and corporations.

Nense

Martín Gómez, better known under the pseudonym “Nense Tango” in the graffiti and street art scene. He began his art and graffiti journey in 2005 approximately. Over the years, his interest in finding new pictorial answers, in conjunction with his academic studies, makes him separate from the traditional graffiti aesthetic, getting involved with the vanguard art movements. His work lies between traditional painting and contemporary street art, responding to themes that speak from nature and the human condition as a philosophical phenomenon to the prediction and temporal projection of the different states in which current society travels.

Knitfest

Knitfest is a yarn bombing not-for-profit community group run by volunteers and led by Creative Director, Debs Swain. They yarnbomb and decorate the main street of Maleny so the town becomes a centre of art and creativity as part of their annual festival. Knitfest will feature in the 2022 BSAF program with a number of yarnbomb public art installations throughout the city along with yarn bombing workshops. Celebrate this accessible form of guerrilla public art with the inclusive Knitfest crew.

Alex Sugar

Alex Sugar is a Perth-born artist currently based in Melbourne who has been passionate about drawing Alex Sugar is well-known for his realism in painting native flora and fauna in conjunction with objects that consider the concept of time and place. He draws these elements together with a slightly surreal twist and complimentary colour palettes.

Hafleg

Shaun Lee (gwarkabah) is a Larrakia, Wardaman and Karajarri contemporary artist and cultural man born and raised in Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia. Shaun started painting as a young boy, learning from his large artistic family that includes his mother Danella Lee and sister Mim Cole (Mimmimdesigns). Known by his artist name, Hafleg, Shaun specialises in murals and logos using contemporary and traditional designs.
