A key practice within the street art world, stencils are one of the most accessible ways to get comfortable with spray cans and walls. Whether for a quick spray, Warhol-esque pop art, or multi layered posterized pieces, stenciling is as useful as it is fun. In this workshop, a recognised street artist will guide classes through the do’s and don’ts of stencil design, stencil creation, and the array of ways they can be used. NOTE: Patrons under 15 year old must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
Scribble Slam returns as part of BSAF 2022; a series of head-to-head battles where artists have just 90 minutes to plan and execute their designs responding to a theme announced at the start of the timer. This year BSAF will be hosting five Scribble Slam events held at Botanica, Elements Collective, and Howard Smith Wharves. Come along to watch this live street art event as some of our best national and international artists transform these spaces in under two hours.

In this workshop you will learn about, and create your own zine. A zine is typically a noncommercial often homemade or online publication usually devoted to specialized and often unconventional subject matter. Street Art is part of an independent attitude and movement of creative expression, and zines are an important element of this community, capturing the attitudes and creative work through the lens of the authors. Zines are the perfect tool to build and support community, as well as a great voice for the voiceless. Poets and visual artists have also used zines as a cheap and unique way to showcase their work.
